On Eagles Wings~~~

What a sight to behold...an eagle soaring, high in the sky. Such a magestic animal to behold...and I was one of the lucky ones to see such a site today!! Just 6 miles from my home, on the freeway...I spotted a huge bird flying low above the expressway, black wings stretched out...but wait! This bird had a white tail...and a white head. No way?? YES way...an eagle! I have never seen an eagle in the wild, flying. And we drove directly underneath it's path of flight. I will forever remember the thrill of seeing this beautiful bird...and I eagerly look forward to seeing more of these birds who have returned to Ohio. This photo is not the same bird...but this is just like what I saw today. If you live in Ohio, pay attention to the skies!

The view from my window....

Well, I was up bright and early this morning! I'm so proud of myself...I'm usually held captive in my bed during these cold, chilly days during Christmas vacation. As I was standing at my scrap table, making adorable tags to add to the wrapped gifts, I glanced out my window. It's so peaceful to watch the birds twitter here and there while I'm being creative. I can also keep an eye out for impending weather from the south.
Pictures aren't nearly as good, but here's a quick snapshot into a piece of my world. May your day be as peaceful!

Survival, the miracle coyote!

Just had to share this story with everyone...thanks Sandy for sharing with me!! Hope you all have a great weekend~~

Miracle coyote

Meet the wiliest of all coyotes: Hit by a car at 75mph, embedded in the fender, road for 600 miles - and SURVIVED!
When a brother and sister struck a coyote at 75mph they assumed they had killed the animal and drove on. They didn't realize this was the toughest creature ever to survive a hit-and-run. Eight hours, two fuel stops, and 600 miles later they found the wild animal embedded in their front fender - and very much alive. Daniel and Tevyn East were driving at night along Interstate 80 near the Nevada-Utah border when they noticed a pack of coyotes near the roadside on October 12. When one of the animals ran in front of the car, the impact sounded fatal so the siblings thought there no point in stopping. 'Right off the bat, we knew it was bad,' Daniel explained: 'We thought the story was over.' After the incident around 1 AM, they continued their 600 mile drive to North San Juan - even stopping for fuel at least twice. But it was only when they finally reached their destination at 9am did they take time to examine what damage they may have sustained. At first it looked as though it was going to be quite gruesome. '[Daniel] saw fur and
the body inside the grill,' Tevyn East said. 'I was trying to keep some distance. Our assumption was it was part of the coyote - it didn't register it was the whole animal.' Daniel East got a broom to try and pry the remains out of the bumper and got the shock of his life. 'It flinched,' Tevyn East said: 'It was a huge surprise - he got a little freaked out.'

'We knew it was bad': Tevyn East, who was in the car when it hit the coyote, bends down to take a look at the fur poking through the fender .

Fur Pete's sake: What Mr. East spotted as he bent down to inspect the damage to his car - the body of the coyote poking out through the radiator .

Wily coyote: The animal's head can be seen as rescuers took apart the front fender to save it after it was struck by the car at 75mph

Miracle escape: As the animal struggled, wildlife protection officials put a loop around its neck to prevent it from further injuring itself. The front of the car is completely taken apart as the coyote begins to wriggle free.

And voila! Tricky the toughest coyote ever rests in a cage after its ordeal - which it survived with just some scrapes to its paw .

Romancing the Road...

I don't usually post 2 in one day...but a good friend just sent this and I wanted to pass it along! Here's to all the women drivers!!

How Simple can it be??

I am ashamed to admit it...but I've been under the impression that you actually needed those cute, little bag clips in order to seal and protect those precious potato chips, or pretzels, or doritos... In these uncertain times, you can now save your pennies and simply fold your chip bag closed. Watch and be amazed~~

Hummingbirds...oh ya!

A friend sent me this today...wouldn't you just love to experince the feeling of dainty, little hummingbirds on your hands? How beautiful!

This is something I have never seen before, or ever even heard of. This woman lives in a Hummingbird fly zone. As they migrated, about 20 of them were in her yard She took the little red dish, filled it with sugar water and this is the result. The woman is Abagail Alfano of Pine, Louisiana - she has been studying them daily and one morning put the cup from the feeder, with water in it, in her hand; as they had gotten used to her standing by the feeder they came over to her hand. She says in touching they are as light as a feather. Abagail also said, 'if she had known her husband was taking pictures she would have put on makeup.'

That's entertainment...

Another gorgeous day! Can you stand it? Sure makes it hard to get things done "inside" the house. Soon people will be heading for those great amusement parks...roller coasters, water rides, and...games: can't forget those corny games that suck you in and suck out your money! Maybe this will help you get in the mood...(the things people do for entertainment...oh my) No animals were hurt in the making of this video.

That masked bandit...

Well, so much for the idea of getting a "cat door"...this is something that would definately happen to us!! Only our dog would sleep thru the whole ordeal and our cats would set out the welcome mat!

Fast Action...

Boy, is it windy out there!! Heard a tree fall in the woods...that, combined with all the wind sounds, is one distrubing sound. It hasn't been windy like this since the fall, when those hurricane winds came thru. We lost a beautiful maple tree that day...broke my heart.

For some reason, this video came to mind...Fast Action Kitty!

You know you want one...

Oh ya, how can you resist this little cutie? My son's first response was, "I want one". Secretly, I was thinking the same thing. (-;

I'm back...

Hello all...it's been a LONG week-end. I can say that I survived a 3 day tour of our Nation's Capitol with 2 bus loads of 8th graders. I struggled to sit and walk without pain for the following couple of days, but today...I'm back to my 'ole self again. (Which may or may not be a good thing)

With that...I give you, once again, Maru - in a box. I love this cat!!

The Zen of Sarcasm...

Well, today I thought I'd pass along these cute sayings...I'm heading out of town for the next few days, so it'll be pretty quiet in here. I'll see about posting on Sunday. So, until then...have a great week!

1. Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either. Just pretty much leave me alone.

2. The journey of a thousand miles begins with a broken fan belt and leaky tire.

3. It's always darkest before dawn. So if you're going to steal your neighbor's newspaper, that's the time to do it.

4. Don't be irreplaceable. If you can't be replaced, you can't be promoted.

5. Always remember that you're unique. Just like everyone else.

6. Never test the depth of the water with both feet.

7. If you think nobody cares if you're alive, try missing a couple of car payments.

8. Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

9. If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is probably not for you.

11. If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably a wise investment.

12. If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.

13. Some days you're the bug; some days you're the windshield.

14. Everyone seems normal until you get to know them.

15. The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket.

16. A closed mouth gathers no foot.

17. Duct tape is like 'The Force'. It has a light side and a dark side, and it holds the universe together.

18. There are two theories to arguing with women. Neither one works.

19. Generally speaking, you aren't learning much when your lips are moving .

20. Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.

21. Never miss a good chance to shut up. AND

22 .. Never, under any circumstances, take a sleeping pill and a laxative on the same night.

Never Underestimate...

I love it when we see someone, make a judgement (usually a bad/wrong one) and they blow us away with their uniqueness. This girl can sing!

Happy Friday...

Yeah...so glad this week is almost done! Hope you have a fun weekend...go chase some wind.

Bit by a bug...

OK, so far this year I was able to avoid the nasty flu that was going around. The family all got it...but not me: I was eating my almonds!! But yesterday I got something. It wasn't mild either...and today my youngest has the same thing. So, I'm guessing it was a bug of some kind and my almonds didn't help me this time. Daniel was worried that it was the swine flu that's gaining so much attention. (-: Nah...we're on the mend. Here's a short viddy that has nothing to do with the flu. Happy Thursday!

The birds...

I told a friend the other day that I've decided to feed the birds thru the summer, something I haven't done before. I usually just feed thru the winter and stop once things are blooming. But, before I had a chance to stop this year, I noticed some very pretty birds had shown up from the south. It was breathtaking...and I wanted to see more. Sure enough, there are many different varieties out there now. And different bird calls I've never heard before. This morning I woke up to a bird that sounded just like a chimpanzee...seriously. Maybe he lived close to a zoo? In spite of all these unique birds laying claim in my front yard...the one bird I have NEVER seen in my 45...oops, 44 years of existence is an owl. Mind you, I've heard them but never seen them in the wild. I've seen Turkeys, Buzzards, Pheasants, Hawks, American Bald Eagles, Grouse...but never an owl. This next video is truly fascinating...the owlet.

The pets people own...

My oldest son is trying to talk me into letting him get a ferret. Have you experienced these funny creatures? Our local pet store has them...and I'm not overly impressed with the look and smell of their waste! I don't think I could take it...'cause ya know - I'd be the one cleaning up after them. I think he's just gonna have to wait until he's out on his own. (Which won't be long...sniff, sniff) There is something about ferrets that I didn't know: they go into a dead sleep. Watch and observe...and have a great Tuesday!!

Sunday, April 26, 2009

Random video...

I have nothing in mind for posting, so I'll just go pick something out and hope it's a good one. It's such a beautiful day...may it be as productive as it is pretty!

Crazy Weather....

Boy, we've certainly had some interesting weather lately. I'm really intrigued by all the different cloud patterns. Spent a lot of time on the road today...we kept driving into rain, then 5 minutes later we'd drive into the sunshine...then shortly it was back into the rain again. At a higher altitude, we were able to see different rain spots in the distance and all around us. So, with this I give you the tornado....and one REALLY crazy weather guy!

Dog tired:dead-dog tired...

I know it's gorgeous out...I know I should be outside weeding, mowing for the first time this year, raking up these annoying, prickly balls that are falling off the trees. But, I'm so tired...and this is how I feel:

Cousin Joe...our last memory together.

Just a little tribute to a very special person...Matthew's cousin Joe. These photo's are from a trip we made to California in 2006. Of course, we always got to see cousin Joe on these trips.
Joe left this earth on February 15th of this year. I've been sitting here thinking about Joe and how unfair it is to everyone that he's gone: his wife, his 2 young daughters...he loved his family and he's simply too young to be gone. It's not right...why Joe, when there are so many other people who don't love their families and don't make good choices and are basically loosers in life? Why not them instead?
Oh ya, I forgot something though...God doesn't sit on His throne, picking and choosing people at will. (Even though we'd like to think that) We all have an appointed time. We all get the chance to live a purpose filled life no matter how long or how short. Joe's life had purpose and he lived it to the fullest.
In my humble opinion, you don't find people like Joe very often. When you do...make it a point to let them know how special they are. I wish he knew how much we loved him and how much he's missed. Life will never be the same without Joe.

Chubby Little Snowman

Snow?! Can you believe it? I'm not too happy right now...but this snow does make me feel like scrapbooking in my warm, cozy corner of the house. So, here's what I came up with today. Appropriate, sorta. If you're having trouble reading the poem, it says:

A Chubby little snowman
Had a carrot nose.
Along came a rabbit
And what do you suppose?
That hungry little bunny,
Looking for his lunch,
Ate that snowman's carrot nose...
Nibble, nibble, CRUNCH!

It may be a bit hard to make out, but the kids made a snowman in the bunny pen, complete with a carrot nose. Of course, the bunny's were thrilled and had that nose gone in no time.

Relationships

Wouldn't it be grand if all people could get along as well as these two adorable creatures? So many lessons to be learned from God's creation. Have a blessed week!

It's FRIDAY....woohoo...

Friday's used to be pretty exciting...but with track season in full swing the busy weeks just flow into the busy weekends. No more staying up late on Friday and sleeping in on Saturday. )-; I guess we'll just have to wait until school is officially out for the summer. Hey, speaking of summer...this next video kinda puts me in the mood for warmer weather. Enjoy!

Everybody's hungry these days...

Well, I'm a bit disappointed. Doesn't anybody know the answer to my question? If April showers bring May flowers, what do May flowers bring?

While you think that over, enjoy today's video celebrating all things hungry!

April showers bring May flowers...

Hard to believe we've come this far. Surely it hasn't been 15 years? I can remember sitting in this very same room, looking thru the doorway into the other room and imagining what it would look like having a child/teenager/adult walk thru that door. I was pregnant and completely full of wonder at what life would hold back then. Well, here we are. Josh is almost an adult and I'm feeling incredibly old; mentally and physically. He's taller than me...he thinks he's smarter than me...(not yet, but some day soon). I'm so very lucky to have Josh as my first-born. He's been a wonderful baby, beautiful boy...a handsome young man, inside and out.

Last call for Snow?!

Will we get snow before the month is done? 3 more days and we'll be saying adios to the cold, white stuff.
I know I've mentioned this before, but I just can't help myself. Is it an age thing? Are we naturally drawn to the birds as we get older? If I lived in the city, would I be sitting on a park bench, feeding the pigeons? I honestly think I would. I don't remember seeing/hearing as many birds as I have this year. I love it! Yesterday we noticed the buzzards are back. (I'm even enjoying these ugly characters) Every year they appear at our neighbors farm. It's the funniest thing. They each sit atop an individual fence post: 10 to 15 fence post's, each with it's own buzzard perched atop. What a picture that would make! Of course, being the shameful scrapbooker that I am, I never have my camera on me when I'm in the car. No matter - I wanted to share this adorable video commemorating the end of the snow. Enjoy!

The simple things in life are most precious!

Hope you're all having a productive day! Things are looking greener outside around here. The birds are so happy...and we're seeing new birds everyday. It feels so good to have made it thru another winter and into a new spring, which happens to be MY favorite season. New life...enjoy this sweet video celebrating new lives:

Tuesday, March 24, 2009

Silly wabbit!!

Can you stand it? Another gorgeous day...I'm hoping March doesn't leave like a lion.

A few years ago we let our daughter purchase a cute, black angora bunny. She named her Regina. Regina lived in a cage in the garage...don't all bunnies live in cages? Well, the following year we acquired 2 more cute bunnies; Wanda and Ginger.

They came with a cage too. (-: Well, we decided to join the 2 cages so they could all be "caged" together. 3 happily caged bunnies. Hubby gets to thinking one day...wonder if those bunnies could be put to work...3 little personal lawn mowers. Off to Lowe's he goes...purchasing fencing so he can put his idea to the test. Well, we've never seen these bunnies so incredibly happy. They were running and jumping and having a good time. Soon, they ran out of nice, green grass. Off to Lowe's for more fencing. It wasn't long before most of our back yard turned into bunny pasture.Good bye cages - hello freedom.

Aside from all the running, hopping, and playing around...these bunnies like to dig burrows. I had no idea they could do such a thing. But it's true...these bunnies are pretty smart. Here's a video showing you this awesome technique. Not our bunnies...but another very - happy -bunny.

Good day for fishing? Maybe not....

I think fishermen like those cloudy days...today is definately not that. Can't believe how many beautiful days we've had now. I haven't had to wash my car in two whole weeks!!! Love it. Here's a little movie for those dreaming of fishing....this is definately the kind of fishing I could get into. No worms, no hooks, no poles...how easy is that!

Going Away~~

Ah, it's FRIDAY!! WooHoo...and I'm going scrapbooking at the fabulous Elkhorn Lodge in wonderful Bergholz, Ohio. Ok - if you have a fear of snakes, you may want to watch with caution? But the snake is not the attacker in this case: he is the attackee...(is that a word?)

Can you say Beautiful??

Hi! It's so beautiful out, I totally forgot about posting a new video. Sorry!! In the true spirit of spring and getting our winter bod's back into some sort of shape, here is a tribute to the treadmill. Wish I had one!!

Black is the new Green!

Just thought I'd pass along something of interest: Matthew informed me that by turning the background on my blog black, I'm actually saving all of you energy. Yes, you're getting more bang for your buck by tuning into my blog. Black uses less pixels, which means less energy is required, which means your meter slows down when you check out my site. It's all about conserving what we have so we'll have more in the future.

Honestly though, I didn't know this when I turned it back to black. I just thought it was easier to watch the video's and read the blog with the black background.

So, what do ya think? (Yes, I'm fishing for comments. Give me some encouragement!)

Tomorrow I've got a treat...we're gonna get a visit from an Asian Garfield. (-:

Anyone up for a fight?

I don't know about you, but Spring Fever is stirring in our household. The dog is chasing the cats, the cats are chasing each other and the kids are becoming very ornery and rambunctious. So, put on yer boxing gloves and get ready:

Saturday, March 14, 2009

Can you say "sneaky"....

One more day closer to spring! We're spending it doing some yard work...which means I won't be able to move much tonight. But pain is good, right? That's what they tell you in sports, but I don't know if it applies to those 40 and above. (-; Have a lovely day and enjoy this sneaky cat!

Friday, March 13, 2009

Never Let Go

Came across this video tonight and was drawn to it's message. I've never heard of the David Crowder Band, but I will be adding them to our library of music. It's a good reminder...we may let go of God, but He will never let go of us once we are His child. I never fully understood this concept until I looked at my firstborn for the first time. Unconditional love just cannot be explained - it has to be experienced.

It's Friday and this is how I feel!

Can anyone else relate to this?

Thursday, March 12, 2009

Dancing~~

I don't know, but this 30 degree weather is not making me dance at all. Guess we'll have to dedicate this video to the fact that Spring... really is...just around the corner. Stay warm!

Slinky Kitty

Here's another cute video...enjoy!

Sometimes, growing up is not an option!

This is for my dear friend Charity. It's a picture of our classmate, Scott. Yes, it's current. He graduated with us in '82, but he's actually OLDER than Charity and myself. Yes, purple is his favorite color. I used to think that was odd for a boy...even odder for a man. Man? I guess he is...(I'm sorta still stuck in 1982.) Charity's hubby is going to be spending time with this character...for 3 weeks. Um, I don't know if that's such a good idea.

Ninja Kitties

Good morning...I'm off for a busy day. The kiddos have swimming leagues and then I get to spend the rest of the afternoon scrapping with some girls. Ah, life is nice. In the meantime, enjoy this short little video...for all you Tae Kwon Do fans...

Bunny love~~

Here's an "awww" for the day!! Nature can be so sweet...and the Lion shall lay down with the lamb.

Can you say, "HUGE"?

Wow, just got this punch from our local scrapbook shop. I had no idea how big it was going to be. It's an EK Success punch...the 3" Scallop Circle. My goodness...this will not fit in my drawer of punches. Guess I'll have to let it take center stage on my shelf?

Dreaming Dog

Just so I don't appear biased, I'm sharing this hilarious video featuring a DOG! I certainly didn't anticipate this blog turning into an animal sanctuary, but I just can't help it. I'm surrounded by furry animals. Enjoy....

Paper Training?

Here's a funny for the week...

More Camoflouge? You decide

Ok, this seems to be becoming habitual among our felines...or perhaps they are seriously struggling with Spring Fever. At any rate, this is Baby Doo..trying to look like a flower? Not really...she was just seeking refuge from Hoopty Hoppty (sometimes known as Hoopy Poopy). It worked for a while.

Camouflage? Nah

Going about my daily cleaning and noticed I hadn't pushed the microwave cart back in place. Seems that MooMoo thought this would be a good place to hide? He doesn't look like the dish that belongs in that rack, but we give him credit for trying.

We've been bit by the bug~~

And this is a NASTY bug! I thought we were thru with the flu 2 weeks ago. Ha...must have been something else in disguise. Now we've got the bug of all bugs...fever that lasts more than 5 days, sore throats, horrible...deep coughs that make the body lurch in pain, headaches that just won't go away. And with a family of 5...this could become a really, really long and nasty recovery time.

Good thing we have our staples of comfort...whoever invented the tissue should be very blessed in deed.

Just Do It!

Ok, so I'm at a crop and the subject of blogs comes up. I say, "oh ya, I have a blog". They ask me, "what's your address"? I haven't a clue. I have to confess to this group of ladies that I've never actually posted before. I'm ....afraid...

What do I actually have to say that would be interesting anyway. I read others blogs and find them very entertaining and educational. Can I possibly offer that to anyone? I guess I'll never know if I don't at least try...so here I am, finally doing it!!

For my first post, I thought I'd share with you one of my feline friends sitting in his most favorite spot, which is located in my most favorite spot...my scrapbook table. I decided to give him a "throne" in order to keep him off of my vitals. So, it's working like a charm. But, I anticipate trouble in the near future...I have another feline who's been eyeballing the throne...Senior Steve
